Lit Thursdays at the Depot Gallery

Every Thursday of the month from 6-8pm the Depot will be open for writers, readers, authors, and creatives to come together, form a community of collaboration and support, and work on craft together. These Thursday meetings invite everyone, from first time writers to published pros. These meetings are not exclusive to Sierra Arts members. All ages welcome. No registration required.

First Thursdays

Book Club:

We are bringing back the “Dating Game” each first Thursday to partner SALC authors with readers. Authors with works in the SALC bookstore are invited to present their books through a series of get-to-know-you-better questions to a crowd, who will then choose which book to read for the month. The following month we’ll hold a discussion on craft from the chosen book (authors welcome to join!), then choose a new book.

Second Thursdays

Critic exchange:

Bring a printed copy of your short stories, chapters, or poetry (up to 15 pages) to exchange with another writers. Each participant will also receive pages from another writer. Take these home or work on them here – discussions will be the following week. This is not an MFA-styled critic, but a casual and encouraging time to get feedback on our work. Third Thursdays

Critic review:

Come prepared with notes from the previous week’s page exchange. There will be time to share as well as write/edit.

Fourth Thursdays

Open mic:

Come share pages you wrote that you’re proud of or profound quotes from authors that inspire your writing
